Asbestos - Cancer Causing Materials

Are you looking to renovate or demolish a relatively older building? Do you need to look out for the health and safety of your occupants, staff, team and the public? You may need an assessment to identify, supervise the removal and carry out post sampling to ensure the safety of the people and mitigate liability onto yourself.

Asbestos is a known carcinogen (cancer causing) naturally occurring mineral used in building materials. Studies have shown negative effects to humans when asbestos is inhaled. Therefore, it is a cause for concern when the material can be crushed or powderized when dry (we use the term friable).

Humans are susceptible to asbestos when disturbing potential building materials during renovations or demolitions. As the material has been widely used prior to 1986 (in some cases asbestos has been found in buildings built after 1986), you may want to consider the potential for asbestos in your home or office prior to the next upcoming renovation.

You can get an assessment carried out by a consulting company and if asbestos or other hazardous materials are present, you can be recommended licensed contractors to remove it safely.
