Do you have a Provincial Officer’s Order in Ontario?

Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) officers issue provincial orders to facilities that are release contaminants into the environment without proper documentation. This documentation such as an Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) and Environmental Activity and Sector Registry (EASR) are requirements issued by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) to ensure protection and compliance with environmental regulations in Ontario.

If you have a facility that exhausts into the atmosphere, then you may be subject to ECAs as an organization that releases contaminants into the environment. The approval process involves a review of the facility’s design, processes, material use, emissions, waste and potential impact to the environment due to regular operation. ECAs are typically mandated for more complex facilities, whereas the MECP has provided a streamlined process called EASRs that allow certain smaller and less complex processes. Under the EASR system, a facility could register without the need of an ECA.
