We are currently seeking an Occupational Hygiene Technician to join our Occupational Hygiene Group at Mississauga's head office. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Occupational Hygiene Technician is required to conduct field work and reporting related to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological hazards. This is an excellent entry level opportunity for highly motivated individuals to gain hands-on experience evaluating a wide range of hazards in a variety of settings.

TYPICAL DAILY JOB ACTIVITIES:

  • Complete workplace exposure assessments for specific chemical (e.g. lead, formaldehyde) and physical (e.g. noise) hazards.
  • Evaluate damage related to catastrophic events such as floods and fires and ensure successful restoration to pre-loss conditions.
  • Complete designated substances and hazardous building materials assessments (e.g. asbestos, lead, silica) and document proper removal of these materials through inspection and testing.
  • Conduct indoor air quality (IAQ) assessments to evaluate ventilation effectiveness and thermal comfort conditions.
  • Investigate for water damage and mould growth and oversee proper remediation of mould contamination.

EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION:

  • The ideal candidate would possess a college diploma or certificate in Occupational Health & Safety as a minimum. Additional relevant education, certifications and experience would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards and guidelines
  • Knowledge and experience using direct-reading instruments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Docs
  • Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
  • Good initiative and self-motivation
  • Able to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced work environment

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

SALARY: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
