D. GLENN SMITH, B.SC. (HE), CRSP, AMRT

President & Senior Project Manager


Since 1989, Mr. Smith has been providing consulting, inspection and testing services to a wide variety of institutional, commercial and industrial clients throughout Ontario and other regions of Canada.

Mr. Smith's background in Health Education has allowed him to design and implement numerous training courses that focus on occupational health and safety for engineers, building managers, maintenance technicians, contractors, and health and safety personnel. Thousands of Ontario workers have been trained by Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith's experience has bee diverse, progressive and successful over the years. His initial responsibilities within the industry included inspection and testing during remediation projects that included such occupational hazards as asbestos, mould, PCB's, lead, silica, guono and others. His dedication and commitment to this industry and area of expertise has assisted Mr. Smith with his career advancement where he is now a senior Principal and President of Safetech Environmental Limited.

Away from work Glenn enjoys, golfing, running in races, roller blading along the waterfront trail in Port Credit and spending time with his family.

ROMEO MILANO, B.A., AMRT

Principal & Senior Project Manager


Since 1989, Mr. Milano has been providing consulting, inspection and testing services to a wide variety of clients within Ontario including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. A large portion of Mr. Milano's responsibilities includes providing recommendations on identifying and abating hazardous building materials such as asbestos-containing and mould contaminated building materials. Often these projects are for larger high profile projects where Mr. Milano's many years of experience is required.

Mr. Milano's activities include designing and developing mould and asbestos management programs, designing remediation programs and contract specifications, budget estimating, tendering of remediation projects, tender evaluation, recommendations and providing Project Management services.

Romeo enjoys spending time with family and friends. Loves cruising on his Street Glide motorcycle. He is actively involved in industry and community associations including being a board of director member for the Toronto Construction Association (TCA), Chair of Healthy Indoors Partnership (HIP), and at his alma mater high school St. Michael's College School where he serves as Past-President of the Alumni Association.

C. WESTON HENRY, M.H.Sc., CIH, ROH

Principal & Senior Occupational Hygienist


Since 1993, Mr. Henry has been providing occupational and industrial hygiene related consulting services to a wide variety of clients in Ontario, including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. Mr. Henry has extensive experience in the organization and administration of occupational health programs, with specific knowledge in chemical, biological and physical hazards. Mr. Henry has performed numerous assessments for airborne hazards in industrial facilities, including contaminants such as mercury, lead, silica, formaldehyde, gluteraldehyde, asbestos, isocyanates, etc. Mr. Henry also has significant knowledge and experience with all aspects of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and mould, as well as being well versed in all aspects of Hospital Infection Control protocols.

Away from the office Wes enjoys spending time with his wife and children and dreams of ‘getting away' to the peaceful confines of northern Ontario. He loves fast cars, his home theatre, and snow mobiling.

Project Manager


Since 2002, Mr. Faulknor has been providing consulting, inspection and testing services to a wide variety of clients within Ontario including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. A large portion of Mr. Faulknor's responsibilities includes providing recommendations on identifying and abating hazardous building materials such as asbestos-containing materials, mould contaminated building materials and lead abatement.

Mr. Faulknor's activities include designing and developing lead, mould and asbestos remediation programs and contract specifications, budget estimating, tendering of remediation projects, tender evaluation/recommendations and providing inspection and testing services over the course of a remediation project.

Daniel's activities include designing and developing lead, mould and asbestos remediation programs and contract specifications, budget estimating, tendering of remediation projects, tender evaluation/recommendations and providing inspection and testing services over the course of a remediation project.

His responsibilities include assigning and supervising field technicians, and ensuring inspection and testing services are provided to the standard our clients have become accustomed to and to ensure our contract obligations are being met if not exceeded.

Louis joined Safetech in August 2007. JEREMY GORE, CET, CCEP

General Manager Southwestern Ontario


Since 1998, Mr. Gore has been providing consulting, inspection and testing services to a wide variety of clients within Ontario including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. A large portion of Mr. Gore's responsibilities includes providing recommendations on identifying and abating hazardous building materials such as asbestos-containing materials and mould contaminated building materials. Often these projects are for larger high profile projects where Mr. Gore's thirteen years of experience is required.

Mr. Gore's activities include designing and developing mould and asbestos management programs, designing remediation programs and contract specifications, budget estimating, tendering of remediation projects, tender evaluation/ recommendations and providing Project Management services over the course of a remediation project.

His responsibilities include ensuring inspection and testing services are provided to the standard our clients have become accustomed to and to ensure our contract obligations are being met if not exceeded.

From an operational standpoint, Mr. Gore is involved with proposal writing, sales/ marketing and the overall decision making process for the Southern Ontario region.

CHRIS COLLETT, B.Sc., M.A.

Associate


Since 1995, Mr. Collett has been providing occupational and industrial hygiene related consulting services to a wide variety of clients in British Columbia, including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. Mr. Collett has significant knowledge and experience with all aspects of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and mould, as well as being well versed in all aspects of Hazardous Building Materials protocols. This includes preparation of proposals, design of assessment and sampling programs, and reviewing site work and reporting.

RODERICK THORPE, M.Sc., MBA, CIEC

Associate

Roderick Thorpe is a senior indoor environmental quality investigator with more than 30 years of experience in indoor investigations, project management, building services and chemical analysis. He has worked in thousands of buildings in Montreal and surrounding areas dealing specifically with indoor air quality investigations and mould remediation projects.

Rod has expertise in all types of indoor environmental quality issues, including microbial contamination; Testing for all types of indoor pollutants including mould, radon, asbestos, allergens, formaldehyde, particulates, and lead; Designing and implementing microbial remediation protocols.

He has acted as a mediator in resolving disputes between parties on environmental quality issues, and has served as an expert witness in court, including Superior Court and Regie du Logement cases and accepted by these courts as a qualified expert witness.


MARINA LACCONA, CET, AMRT

MARINA LACCONA, CET, AMRT

Sr. O H & S Technician and Business Development


Ms. Laccona has been working in the environmental consulting field since 2003. Ms. Laccona's responsibilities include the identification and reporting of hazardous building materials such as asbestos-containing materials, mould contaminated building materials and lead based paints; the supervision of contractor personnel; and ensuring inspection and testing services are provided to the standard our clients have become accustomed to. Marina also assists in Business and Client Development.

MICHAEL MITANIS, B.SC. (OH&S)

Occupational Hygienist


Michael joined Safetech in December 2007. Mr. Mitanis performs occupational and industrial hygiene related services to a wide variety of clients in Ontario, including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. Mr. Mitanis has conducted assessments for airborne hazards in industrial facilities, including contaminants such as asbestos, lead, silica, and mould. Mr. Mitanis also has knowledge and experience with all aspects of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

Steve joined Safetech in May 2006. Mr. March's responsibilities include the identification and reporting of hazardous building materials such as mould contaminated building materials, asbestos-containing materials, silica, mercury, PCB's, lead based paints, and other designated substances.

His responsibilities include the supervision of contractor personnel, and ensuring inspection and testing services are provided to the standard our clients have become accustomed to.

WINSTON LEW, P.Eng.

Environmental Services

Winston joined Safetech in October 2007. Mr. Lew's responsibilities include the performance  of Environmental Compliance Approvals (ECAs) for institutional, commercial and industrial facilities; conducting environmental assessments for tank removals, verification sampling of soil and groundwater and contaminated sites; and has assisted in the management on Phase I Environmental Site Assessment Projects and Phase II Environmental Site Assessment projects on behalf of clients.  This includes project coordination, regular communication with clients, contractors and suppliers, site supervision, Job Safety Analysis (JSA) protocols and draft reporting.

His responsibilities include inspection, sampling and reporting while upholding the highest levels of quality control and quality assurance.  Mr. Lew is also the company Equipment Manager and Chief Security Officer for Safetech.

JAMES GREEN, B.Sc.

Project Coordinator & Trainer

James joined Safetech in July 2007. Mr. Green's responsibilities include the identification and reporting of hazardous building materials such as asbestos-containing materials, mould contaminated building materials and lead based paints.

His responsibilities include the supervision of contractor personnel, and ensuring inspection and testing services are provided to the standard our clients have become accustomed to.

Mr. Green is also responsible for in house laboratory quality control and staff training. Mr. Green performs awareness seminars and training for hazardous materials, abatement practices and procedures, WHIMS, Fall Arrest, and Confined Space Entry.

Occupational Hygienist


Jon joined Safetech in January 2009. Mr. Lee performs occupational and industrial hygiene related services to a wide variety of clients in Ontario, including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. Mr. Lee has conducted assessments for mould, fire and water damage projects, former marijuana grow ops, and airborne hazards in commercial and institutional facilities including contaminants such as VOC's, mould, and asbestos. Mr. Lee also has knowledge and experience with all aspects of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).

His responsibilities include ensuring inspection and testing services are provided to the standard our clients have become accustomed to and to ensure our contract obligations are being met if not exceeded.

PAUL VALENTI, B.A.

O H & S Technician


Mr. Valenti has has preformed several different types of work.  He has worked on environmental projects in asbestos, lead, designated substance’s surveys and abatements.  Mr. Valenti’s strong leadership skills and diverse experience of the industry has proven beneficial in providing clients and contractors with direction and resourceful solutions for a wide variety of projects.


 

NATALIE MARKIEWICZ, B.A.Sc.

Occupational Hygiene Technician


Since 2011, Ms. Markiewicz has been providing occupational and industrial hygiene related consulting services to a wide variety of clients in Ontario, including institutional, commercial and industrial facilities. This includes design of assessment and sampling programs, performing site investigations, air sampling, and providing recommendations based on results. Ms. Markiewicz also completes comprehensive reports associated with all on-site activities conducted.

 Prior to graduation, Ms. Markiewicz worked part-time, completing extensive training programs for Healthy Indoors Partnership (HIP), an industry organization that creates awareness and education for healthier indoor environments. Ms. Markiewicz conducted research, developed, revised and edited training programs for HIP associated with commercial and residential indoor air quality, mould and grow-op remediation. Ms. Markiewicz also played an instrumental role in completing the training manuals and power point presentations for these training courses that are geared towards providing quality continuing education to professionals working in the field of indoor air quality.

Rada joined Safetech in October 2010. Ms. Vekic's responsibilities include administrating accounts receivable and assisting in the operations of the office including liaising with clients, suppliers, and contractors, customer service, accounting, marketing, and general office administration

Carolyn has been with Safetech since June 2004.
