Occupational Health and Safety Technician - Insurance & Emergency Restoration Division - GTAA Office 

We are seeking a dedicated individual with exceptional communication and problem-solving skills to join our Insurance & Emergency Restoration Division.  The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating damage and monitoring restoration work associated with floods, fires and sewage back-ups.  Must be able to work flexible hours - evenings and weekends.  Must have a valid G driver's license. Must have a working knowledge of common construction related hazardous materials, including asbestos, lead, and mould contamination. Past experience in disaster restoration would be considered an asset.  IICRC WRT/AMRT certification would also be considered beneficial. Working knowledge of IICRC Standards and Reference Guides for water damage restoration and mould remediation are considered a plus. 

DAILY DUTIES:

Conduct visual assessments, use sampling equipment and retrieve air/swab/bulk samples as necessary to generate an effective and accurate scope of work for restoration/remediation.

Provide quality control site inspections and verification testing prior to, during and at the completion of restoration/remediation. 

Prepare technical reports, scope of work, and specifications based on information gathered from site assessments and sampling.

Liaise with restoration and remediation contractors to provide site direction with accurate and timely correspondence.  

Report to Project Managers regarding site work and provide all required information for invoicing and timesheets.

Manage and upkeep all sampling equipment, ensure calibration is conducted as per company policy and standardized operating procedures.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 1 to 2 years of field related experience in environmental consulting or property restoration. 

College Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent is preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required in order to deal effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, suppliers and fellow staff members.

Proficiency in Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Slides, MS Word, Excel, pdf and ability to read and interpret CADD drawings.

Technical competency using various types of testing equipment preferred, training will be provided. 

Excellent relationship building skills are necessary to be able to foster and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills are necessary to plan and run a project or projects concurrently.

Initiative and self-motivation is required to make recommendations, take action, and work with little direction.

Occupational Health and Safety Technician - GTAA Office 

 
PURPOSE: The OH&S Technician will be required to conduct field work for the assessment of hazardous materials such as asbestos, mould and designated substances, perform inspection and testing during remediation projects and generate technical reports associated with the field work completed.

DAILY DUTIES:

Determine the location, quantity, and type of sampling to be performed, and conduct effective and accurate sample collection, onsite testing and monitoring.

Prepare reports based on information gathered through field sampling based on company policy and standardized operating procedures.

Participate in site meetings and hold conversations with clients to determine their needs and gather all required information.

Report to Project Managers regarding site work and provide all required information for invoicing and timesheets.

Manage and upkeep all sampling equipment, ensure calibration is conducted as per company policy and standardized operating procedures.

Conduct any necessary laboratory work as required maintain good standing in IRSST Fibre Counter Program.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 2 year college Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required in order to deal effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, suppliers and fellow staff members.

Proficiency in word, excel, outlook, pdf and ability to read and interpret CADD drawings.

Technical competency using various types of testing equipment.
